Ignatian Daily Examen
This 500 year old prayer practice was offered by St. Ignatius of Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises, which largely shaped the practice of spiritual direction. It is designed to help pilgrims notice God’s presence in their lives and to reflect on their responses to that presence. It is still commonly used in spiritual direction today.
1. Become aware of God’s presence.
2. Review the day with gratitude.
3. Pay attention to your emotions and reactions.
4. Face your shortcomings.
5. Look toward tomorrow. Ask God for the grace and guidance you need to move forward.
